South Side Members Hit a Strike!
Nothing breaks up the bleakness of winter quite like a new field trip. Last week, our South Side Club members had the opportunity to go bowling at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.
The activity was open to all 9 to 12-year-old members. Jenna LaBorde, South Side Club Director, labeled the outing as a “just because” trip to let this age group know that they are cared for and valued.
The event attracted 20 members, many of whom had never been bowling before. Excitement buzzed among them every time that a member got a strike, keeping the energy and interest high in BGCC’s lanes. Every child who attended the outing said that they are looking forward to going bowling again. Upon their return to the Club, it was a popular conversation topic with their peers.
“Here at South Side, our high priority is to provide our members with unique experiences,” said Jenna. Recreational field trips supplement Boys & Girls Clubs’ more structured educational and character-building programs and helps to remind members new and old that they are each an asset to our Clubs. BGCC is grateful for the generosity from Wayne Webb’s to make this event achievable so that our youth could enjoy this classic experience.
