BGCC Celebrates Volunteers During National Volunteer Week

In honor of National Volunteer Week (April 15 – 22) Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus is celebrating the 500 volunteers that make a difference in the lives of our members each day.  In 2017, our volunteers logged 8,000 hours or an average of 16 days of service per volunteer during the year.  “Without this dedicated group of individuals, we would never be able to accomplish all that is necessary to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment for the nearly 6,000 youth that we serve”, says Sonia Sprayberry, Volunteer Coordinator at Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus.  The 500 volunteers who dedicate their time and talents come from all ages.  We have college students, corporate executives and senior citizens who are passionate about mentoring our kids, helping in our administrative office, or providing maintenance in our Clubs.  Although each volunteer is unique in the talents he or she brings to the organization, they are all united under one important mission – to build better and brighter futures for the kids in our community who need it most.
