Partnership Helps BGCC Reach More Summer Youth
Through a partnership with Franklin County Jobs and Family Services and Columbus City Schools, BGCC has the ability to reach even more youth in need during the summer months. Students attending morning summer school in six elementary schools throughout Columbus have the option of extending their day as Club members. After wrapping up their morning in the Columbus City School program, these students move from summer school to the Club, where a host of trained staff members welcome them to an afternoon of fun, engaging programming to prevent summer learning loss and keep them physically active. In addition, a behavioral specialist from Children’s Hospital is available each day to meet with youth who need emotional support. Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus hired 140 summer fellows to run the program, serving nearly 1200 youth from June through August.
