Inside the Club: Meet 11-Year-Old Da’Ziyer

If you swing by the RISE Clubhouse for a tour of its newly-remodeled facility, you might be surprised to find that your tour guide is a spunky fifth grader who projects the confidence and Club knowledge of a seasoned staff member.  “I love giving tours,” says Da’Ziyer, “it makes me happy to show off all of the great things about the Club and see how much people like it.”  In addition to giving tours, Da’Ziyer takes full advantage of the many leadership opportunities she has at The Club.  As a member of the Torch Club, she inspired a group of peers to hold a cookie, lemonade and art sale so that they could raise money to give back to the community.  With the $103.50 generated from the sale, the girls purchased food and necessities for the homeless.  When asked why fundraising was important to her, Da’Ziyer replied, “This world needs to change.  You got a blessing that day…a chance to give back.”  Whether she is coaching the Club’s cheerleading squad (which she assembled and manages), mentoring a younger student during Power Hour, or helping a new member feel welcome, Da’Ziyer reminds us that old or young, each one of us has the ability to make a difference.
