GOAL: BGCA is preparing the youth of America to participate in the world of the future, as part of a stronger and more inclusive global community and an ever-evolving workforce. Tools such as My.Future support this by engaging youth in productive out-of-school-time activities and developing important 21st century skills. The result will be a stronger pipeline of good citizens, skilled workers and safer communities.


WHY: My.Future supports Great Futures 2025 by enhancing the Club Experience for kids and teens and giving them a fun, inclusive way to create and share through interactive media.


WHO: Boys & Girls Club members ages 6 to 18


WHAT: Kids and teens love to come to their local Boys & Girls Club – not just for the fun, but also for the care and attention they get. Still, they also love connecting and playing online. Now, as part of Great Futures 2025, BGCA is reaching out to them with a resourceful social platform. My.Future, built through the generous support of Comcast NBCUniversal, has a powerful digital presence. It is a safe, fun, mobile-friendly social platform with access to more than 100 BGCA program activities, in areas such as STEM, leadership and visual arts. With My.Future, kids and teens can share their work with their friends while earning recognition and rewards. Youth development professionals will help guide members through the My.Future experience by approving access to the platform, approving the media that can be shared publicly and issuing recognition to members who have completed activities. Club staff can also decide which media, recognition and rewards to make public, allowing local communities to see what members are creating and accomplishing. Because it’s web-based, My.Future means less paperwork, giving staff more time for one-on-one interactions with members. Using the My.Future dashboard, staff can tell which digital activities are most popular, track member progress and identify the areas where youth may need more help or support.
