Human Resources Manager

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Ohio (BGCCO) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resource Manager who will lead and manage the routine functions of Human Resources including hiring and interviewing staff, onboarding new employees, administering benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. In addition, they will support the Career & Workforce Development Director as needed.

Reports To:     Chief Financial Officer

Position Specific Key Roles:

  • Leads and manages the recruiting effort for the Club.
  • Support and lead onboarding for new employees.
  • Maintain and support all company policies including the employee handbook.
  • Coach and support managers related to performance, employee development and discipline of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Support the Career & Workforce Development Director by conducting resume building and career readiness sessions for the program.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to current/future talent needs, recruiting and retention.
  • Manage and execute all aspects of the onboarding process for new employees.
  • Manage, execute and support all human resource policies including the employee handbook. Accountable for keeping these policies up-to-date with all relevant federal, state, and local laws.
  • Ensure all management employees understand human resource policies and have the tools and coaching necessary to drive consistency and compliance. Provide coaching and support as needed.
  • Manage and execute all administrative requirements related to the health and financial benefit programs. Contribute to the overall effectiveness and design of these programs.
  • Provides support and leads all managers related to performance concerns, employee development opportunities and any disciplinary actions.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Keeps abreast of trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Conducts resume and career building workshops in support of the Career & Workforce Development Director.
  • Provide back-up support to process payroll.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to drive recruiting efforts
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly with command and humility (oral & written)
  • Strong organizational skills and process mindset
  • Excellent working knowledge of human resource practices with strong emphasis on recruiting strategies
  • Working knowledge of policy and procedure development, implementation, and overall management
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to connect with people and balance empathy and toughness; demonstrated “can do” approach

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of demonstrated recruiting experience and general human resource management
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing policies and procedures
  • Experience with health and financial benefit programs is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft & database management applications
  • Satisfactory results of a criminal background check required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to be in the field 25% of the time
  • Ability to work non-traditional work hours with schedule flexibility
